‘Practice’ is a yoga school, founded by Sandra Gerhard, in the middle of Kreuzberg, more precisely: in the old X-berg 36, close to the U-Bahn stations Görlitzer Bahnhof and Kottbusser Tor. In the souterrain of a backyard in a former dance school we started teaching in the autumn of 2019.
Our approach
Our aim is to teach yoga in the traditional understanding – as a spiritual discipline – and we would like to hold a space for everyone who is interested, with no regards to age, gender or physical fitness.
We are teaching Vinyasa Yoga. The positions are taught in a specific order, linked together with the breath – and by the breath (‘flow’). All our Vinyasa teachers are Jivamukti Yoga certified teachers, and they are strongly influenced by the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method. The ‘eight-limbed path’ (Sanskrit: Aṣṭāṅga = eight limbed) of Yoga according to Patanjali is the base of all our teachers’ practices and teachings.
The physically demanding practice of Vinyasa Yoga can be complemented by Restorative Yoga, which is demanding, but more reposeful.
